Medical Transport Professionals in Boyceville, WI

In 1973, representatives from the municipalities and townships that make up the Boyceville Community Ambulance District held a meeting to set up an ambulance service. In March of 1974, the townships of Hay River, New Haven, Sherman, Stanton, Tiffany, Lucas, and Otter Creek, along with the villages of Boyceville, Knapp, and Wheeler, formed the Boyceville Community Ambulance Service licensed at the EMT-Basic Life Support level. At that time, there were 4,946 residents in our district, which stretched for 160 square miles. The ambulance service was stationed out of the Boyceville Fire Department building but was a separate agency owned by the Village of Boyceville and contracted out to the surrounding municipalities. In 2003, the service upgraded to a higher level of care called EMT-IV Tech.

The service was staffed by volunteers until the summer of 2010. At that time, a new operational plan was written by Chief Feeney and adopted by the EMS Board of Directors. Under this plan, the service went from a volunteer service to a paid staffed service 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

In 2013, the Board of Directors decided to make ownership of the service equal to all municipalities currently served by the ambulances. The service officially became the Boyceville Community Ambulance District.

In March of 2015, the ambulance staff and equipment moved from the Boyceville Fire Department station into their own station located at the corner of Tiffany and Race streets in the village of Boyceville. The service has two advanced life support ambulances housed in that station. The first ambulance out the door is always staffed with at least one Advanced EMT and one Basic EMT.
